REGION

The hotel is located in the “Sierra Oeste” de Madrid, halfway between the western area of the “Sierra de Guadarrama” and the “Sierra de Gredos”.

Holm oaks, pine forests, scrubland and oak groves can be explored while hiking or admired from one of the many viewpoints in the area.

Form each hotel room the scenery is spectacular, mountains, countryside and in the distance the picturesque town with imposing church.

The Hotel is only 15 minutes from the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and near to a prestigious golf course, “La Herrería”. Both the Monastery and the Golf Course are located within the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984 by UNESCO.

The NASA satellite tracking station is only minutes away.

The Aerospace Tracking Base was established in the area in 1964 to track all the vehicles that NASA sends into space.

The Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex (MDSCC), has a visitor center where one can observe and admire videos, photographs, exhibitions, a piece of a moonstone, a suit of the astronaut Miguel López-Alegría, as well as the visualization of missions as important as the exploration of Mars with the ‘Curiosity’ and the ‘Opportunity’.

It is a space communications center, located in the middle of nature, created by NASA and INTA (National Institute of Aerospace Technology), which currently has six space antennas.

Projections and presentations about space are held in its auditorium room, and in the remaining three rooms a descriptive exhibition on the activities of NASA and the MDSCC can be visited.

A family visit is strongly recommended as the center offers entertaining children’s activities.

The little ones will surely enjoy the close-up view of the 70m diameter and 8,500 ton antenna with which beat the record for every -day -human -telecommunications when the base come into contact with the ‘Voyager I’ , located almost at 15 light-hours from Earth.

El Escorial

In the heart of the Guadarrama mountain range, only 50 kilometers from Madrid, stands the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

Its urban layout is composed of a harmonious collection of ancestral homes in the Herrera style, with rationalist avenues and small squares in an earlier style. Nestling in the Madrid mountains, it offers many leisure opportunities and cultural routes, such as those which take the visitor to Ávila, Segovia, Toledo or Madrid.

The heart of this town is the “Monastery of El Escorial”. This architectural gem, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, was ordered to be built by Felipe II in the 16th century to commemorate the Battle of San Quintín. An urban layout slowly developed around it, since the aristocrats and middle classes from the capital had their summer residences erected here. It is, in short, an elegant town rich in architectural heritage and surrounded by mountains and forests.

The Monastery

The Royal Monastery is a complex structure designed by Juan Bautista de Toledo and built by Juan de Herrera. The simplicity of its lines focusses all the attention on the harmony of its courtyards, fountains, cloisters, and towers. More than 4.000 rooms are distributed among the principal areas. The Courtyard of the Kings of Judea gives way to the Basilica, which has a dome base measuring 95 meters and paintings by Lucas Jordán among its major features.

San Lorenzo was also built to house the Royal Pantheon and the Spanish monarchs from the houses of Habsburg and Bourbon are buried here. The princes, infantes and queens who died without leaving royal descendants rest in the “Pantheon of the Infantes”.

 

HOTEL HISTORY

In December 2008, the actual owners acquired full ownership of the two buildings in which both the Main Building and the SPA and other facilities are located.

All the constructions have been carried out with the appropriate licenses and in accordance with current legislation, having the corresponding activity / operating licenses.

The Hotel was inaugurated on August 11, 2010.

In October 2016, the new Event Facilities were inaugurated.

The hotel activities are divided into 4 different departments.

HOTEL DISTRIBUTION

The surface of the plot is 9.646,70 m2 of which 2.962 m2 is built. Not including terraces, porches, parking, corridors communicating with the SPA, some of the warehouses and a small glass room of 20 m2 next to the entrance porch to the Hotel.

The Hotel Facilities are housed in three buildings: two initial ones that communicate to each other through the garden and inside corridor.

The third building is separated and is used as the Events building.

Main Building

Consists of three floors, 0, 1 and 2, and a semi-basement, where the fully equipped laundry is located.

In addition to the main entrance to the Hotel, there are 19 rooms, the Restaurant (awarded with a “Repsol Sun” = equivalent to Michelin Star), the Bar, Reception Area, Kitchen and various warehouses.

The surface of the different plants are:

-Floor 0: 610 m2

-Floor 1: 650 m2

-Floor 2: 575 m2

-Semi-basement floor: 43 m2

The different terraces on the different floors are not included.

Next to the main entrance of the Hotel, nestled in the porch we find the Mahonia Room, a 20 m2 glazed lounge.

The three floors are also connected by a large staircase and an elevator for 8 people installed in December 2019.

The rooms are decorated in different styles all of them displaying very exquisite taste.

They are equipped with closets, a TV, (the vast majority have been replaced this year), heating, air conditioning and a fan (except the sloping ceilings).

All of them have private bathroom, some suites feature jacuzzi bathtubs.

Fiber and WIFI Communications are available throughout the Hotel, also having voice and data.

The rooms have Queen size, King size and extra King size beds with the possibility of converting them into 2 single beds.

Second Building- Indoor Pool Wellness

EVENTS HALL

The separate Events Hall is a unique location for weddings, family celebrations and corporate gatherings to become unforgettable memories. Its unique location close to Madrid attracts a numerous clientele from the city when there is a party to organize.

The garden can be used for the celebration of civil ceremonies and has specially enabled shaded and roofed spaces.

The hall, with capacity for up to 400 guests, offers spacious and welcoming spaces for the celebration of the banquet.

The dedicated kitchen offers Mediterranean cuisine adapted to the taste of the Sierra de Madrid, prepared with great care and dedication according to the client´s instructions.

This event´s Hall has private parking for guests right next to the gardens and the fully accessible large living room.

It is a 600 m2 modern building, composed of:

Note: Recently the owners signed a Collaboration Contract with a Catering / Events Company which will include this specific Event´s Hall in their offer. This cooperation will increase the annual income as the Hotel would rent the Hall to them if it is available and not already booked for their own clients.

 

RESTAURANT – Bar- Snack Bar

In the Hotel Restaurant one will find the best seasonal cuisine. A menu designed to delight the most demanding.

A place to start the day with a splendid breakfast or for a moment of relaxation enjoying an exquisitely pleasant meal with loved ones.

Where one can enjoy the magnificent terrace with beautiful views of the natural environment, while savoring the pleasure of the “haute cuisine”.

They serve a special degustation menu for hotel guest at set price of 45 €.

Because of the splendid location and elegance of this hotel, the high season is long. Weekends are usually fully booked even in wintertime.
